Module 1, or, Movable Object / Penetrable Force, 2026.
Dimensions variable.
Beeswax and plywood.
Inspired by the transformational nature of wax, Module 1 uses eight handmade beeswax balls and eight plywood planks to form a modular sculpture that can be arranged into endless different temporary compositions.
The sculpture requires activation either by the artist or viewer. The malleable quality of wax is reflected in this interaction, each interaction with the sculpture creates a completely unique composition, the fleeting compositions can be completely transformed through a simple act of addition or subtraction.
Each beeswax ball and plywood plank are completely independent of each other, the sculpture uses no fusion to combine each part, meaning each composition is delicate and requires careful balance when interacting, mirroring the fragile nature of wax as a material and allowing for infinite alteration of the compositions.
