This book assembles an archive of 100 addresses across New York City that hold significant Marxist history. At its core is an accompanying map of these 100 locations. Together, the map and the historical sites function as a dialectical image: a visual and spatial method for understanding class struggle through cartographical research. The introduction draws on Walter Benjamin’s On the Concept of History to frame a relationship between Marxist history and cultural memory, offering a theoretical lens through which the archive can be read.
